Summer Trip

Wednesday 10 August

Left Woodlesford at 11ish, the lock and surrounding area looks lovely thanks to the Woodlesford Gardeners, they do a terrific job!

Bit wet and windy, but managed it to the top of Woodnook Lock without being too wet… Had lunch and filled with water and then made it to the top of Kings Road Lock at 3.30pm and moored up for the evening.

Thursday 11 August

Oops slept in till 8.30am, had rained heavily in the night but dry and the odd bit of sunshine.  Stopped off for a short tea break at Stanley Ferry and then managed our ‘favourite lock’, Fall Ings, actually it wasnt too bad or Helen had Weetabix for breakfast!

Moored between Thornes Lock and the flood gates for a spot of lunch.  It was fine, however I dont know whether it would be safe overnight.  Arrived at Calder Grove at 3.45pm.  We couldnt believe it, when we set off the river was on green… on arriving at Broadcut was in the red and you could feel the pull trying to get Coventina in the lock…  Moored up at Calder Grove.

Sunday 14 August

Moved Coventina up to the Bingley Arms had Sunday lunch in the pub.

Thursday 18 August

Yipeeee the start of our holidays… Pam kindly brought us to the Bingley Arms in the evening after work.  Was really chuffed, have won a years supply of Elsan products in a competition in Towpath Talk, so that will save us a bit of cash!!
