Bridgewater Canal

Friday 24 July

Departed Moore at 9.30am, Helen was stung by a wasp whilst going through Grappenhall on her leg, swelled up a bit, but calmed down the next day.  Arrived at Lymm bridge 23 at 12.00.  Moored near Matthew Corbett’s lovely canalside cottage, saw him walking his dog. Met Ali, Liam and friend and went for an Italian at ‘Baci’, lovely meal in the evening, very welcoming, full of families.  Learnt what a contour canal was today – a canal with no locks.  The Bridgewater canal has no locks, nice rest for Helen !!!! Total 2.25 hours

 Saturday 25 July

Departed Lymm at 10.00am, stopped to empty the loo and fill up with water, moored up just past Dunham School bridge 28 at 12ish.  Nicest weather so far on this stretch.  Went for a bike ride into Dunham village and to the farm shop.  Had a lovely BBQ, sat out till late, yummy food and superb weather for a change, good evening. Total 1.75 hours     Engine 700 hours

 Sunday 26 July

Prolonged heavy rain all day ….. when is Summer going to arrive? Departed Dunham School bridge at 08.45am, stopped off at Worsley for lunch 1 hour, moored near bridge 54 at 1.45pm.  The water around this area is ochre coloured.  Worsley village lovely, with some nice old buildings, however saw some needles under a bridge so decided to moor further on in the rural areas.  Moored next to some woods, quite eerie, heard an owl hooting.  Total 4 hours
